How Clean My Speaker researches, tests and corrects what it publishes.

Clean My Speaker publishes a free speaker cleaning tool and guides about wet, dusty and muffled speakers. This page explains who is responsible for that content, where the information comes from and what happens when something is wrong.

Who is responsible

The tool and the guides are made by Salah Uddin, who designed and coded the speaker cleaner and the tone generator. His name is on every guide, next to the date it was last updated.

Where the information comes from

Guides start from primary sources:

  • Manufacturer support pages, such as Apple, Samsung and Google guidance on liquid exposure, charging and cleaning.
  • Published standards, such as the IEC 60529 ratings behind IP67 and IP68.
  • Independent repair and testing coverage, such as iFixit.
  • Our own testing of the cleaner on real phones.

Sources are linked in the guide at the point where they are used. When a figure is widely repeated but has no official source, the guide says so. The 165 Hz tone is an example: it is a community convention, not a number Apple has published.

How the tool is tested

The cleaner has been run on a Google Pixel, other Android phones and an iPhone 16. Guides about devices we have not handled ourselves, such as particular earbuds or Bluetooth speakers, rely on the maker’s published instructions and say what the maker recommends.

Safety comes first

A cleaning tone is loud by design, so the tool tells you to keep the phone away from your ear. We do not recommend methods that risk permanent damage, such as pushing a pin into a speaker grille, using heat, or charging a phone while its port is wet. When sound cannot fix a problem, the guide says so and points you to a repair shop or the manufacturer.

Updates and corrections

Each guide shows when it was last updated. Guides are revised when a manufacturer changes its advice, when a phone or operating system changes how something works, or when a reader reports an error.

To report a mistake, email [email protected] or use the contact page, and tell us which guide and what is wrong. Confirmed errors are fixed and the date on the guide is updated.

The site carries no advertising and sets no tracking cookies, as described in the privacy policy. Phone and accessory brands are named because readers own those devices.

What this site is not

Clean My Speaker is not a repair service and cannot diagnose a hardware fault. The tool helps with loose water and dust. It cannot repair a torn speaker, a failed amplifier or corrosion. The terms of use set out the limits in full.
